EME Assignment No.1
Subject : EME
Teacher : Mr. Sanjeev Kumar
- What do you understand understand by equality of Temperature?
- Derive the ideal gas equation p.v=mRT.
- Differentiate between heat and internal energy?
- State the meaning of that work is the energy in transit.
- Show that the total energy or internal energy is the property of the system?
- Find the equation for work transfer for an isothermal process and show that Q=W.
- What do you understand by Flow work? Where it is applicable? Drive an expression for flow work.
- Differentiate between ∫p.dv and ∫-Vdp work.
- A fluid at a pressure of 3 bar and with a specific volume of 0.18m3/kg contained in a cylinder behind a piston expands reversibly to a pressure of 0.6bar according to the law p=C/V2 where C is a constant.
- Calculate the work done by the fluid on the piston. 0.2m3 of ideal gas at a pressure of 20bar and 600k is expanded isothermally to 1 m3 . It is then cooled to 300k at constant volume and then compressed back polytropically to its initial state. Find net work done and the net heat transfer during the cycle.
- A centrifugal pump delivers 2750 kg of water per minute from initial pressure of 0.8 bar absolute to a final pressure of 3.8 bar absolute. The suction pressure is 2m below and delivery is 5m above the center of pump. If the suction and delivery pipes are of 15cm and 10cm diameter respectively, make calculations for power required to run the pump.
